Jenny Sutherland is pretty, but the lovely country girl is also vain. Her guardian has decided that a London season is just the thing to give the fair Jenny a sorely deserved set-down. Meanwhile, the handsome Duke of Pelham, owner of 67 Clarges Street, has returned from Europe at last - to find a wife. Used to women doting on him, the Duke turns the ton against the disdainful Jenny who dares to spurn him at her very first London soiree. Alas, he's fallen in love with the miss he's just ruined! Now his butler Rainbird has a mischievous plan to get Jenny into the Duke's arms - and teach this upstairs Lord and Lady a humbling lesson about downstairs servants - and the human heart.

Wow!!! What a bittersweet book. I've loved the entire series that has centered around the house at 67 Clarges Street and this series ending wrap-up is just perfect.First - let's just say the revenge on Mr. Palmer is absolutely perfect, but I won't tell you what it is or how it happens because that would spoil it for you. Just know that you'll love it!
Yes, there is a romance (or two or three or . . ). The Duke finally visits his property and meets the servants. Can they manage to tame a haughty, pompous Duke -- you bet they can! Then, there is also the vain, shallow heroine - how will they give her a lesson in humility without crushing her spirit. Lots of the stuff the Duke and his lady love work out for themselves, but the 'help' definitely does their share.
If you have read the series, you know that the staff at 67 Clarges Street has practically been held hostage by the nefarious Mr. Palmer. He's cooking the books, paying them starvation wages and recording a higher salary in the books. He, of course, pockets the difference. The staff is 'hostage' because both Rainbird and Joseph have pasts that Palmer threatens to expose if any of them try to leave. Neither is guilty of what they were accused, but that doesn't stop Palmer. So, over the course of the years, the entire staff has been saving whatever tips, bonuses they have gotten from the various renters of the house. They plan to all leave service and purchase a pub that they will all own and manage together - thus leaving service and nullifying Palmers threat against them. In this book, that ownership becomes a reality. However, like many dreams, when you are presented with the reality you begin to question if that is what you REALLY want. Evidently not all of them really want that reality.
Each of the staff gets their own version of Happily Ever After and they are so sweet! Again, I'll not tell you what each of those HEA's are, but they are absolutely PERFECT for that person.
At the end of the book, there is a one-year reunion for the staff and it is great to see how each of them have done in their chosen path.
I was so sad for the series to end, but absolutely loved this perfect wrap-up for it!

Rainbird Revenge House for the Season Book 6 (Audible Audio Edition) M C Beaton Lindy Nettleton Inc Blackstone Audio Books Reviews
I have read all the House for the Season books (6) and it was a pleasure to find the last book not only had a terrific story but nicely wrapped up all the loose ends for all the characters. Chesney's attention to period detail is a delight, her characters are engaging, and I love the light gentle touch of humor she adds to the story. Wonderful reads for a rainy afternoon!
The series of Seasons' fine ladies and gentlemen renting the townhouse ends quite nicely. Not only do you enjoy the adventures of the Duke of Peltham, there are also all the servants' stories to unearth, as well. A few twists and turns, some surprises, and a Grand Tale comes to an end. I enjoyed hearing a bit about each character, with a few new ones added to enliven the telling with hearty foibles along the way! Enjoy!!!
Only Marion Chesney can create ridiculous events with such flare to make them almost believable. A must read for Chesney fans, even if you don't read the rest of this series. But those who have enjoyed any of the books in this series will not want to miss the happily-ever-afters for each of the servants. The H/h truly deserve each other, and by the end they are bringing out each other's better natures. What a tranformation for each of them to care about someone else more than themselves!
A House for the Season series is very enjoyable. The characters are likable, yet imperfect, which makes them very easy to identify with. There is always a satisfying and happy ending in these books, however, the plots are well-developed and they are believable (for the most part).
Final book in the House For a Season series and wraps up all the loose ends. The series "villain" gets his comeuppance and the main characters find a happy life to come. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone find a happy place in life.
Some books are worth the money and some are not. However if the author is MC Beaton you can rest assured the books is going to be fun, with twists, turns, situations you never would expect, and quirky characters that you learn to love. I am so glad Ms. Beaton turned to writing than something mundane mundane or tedious; because your whimsy and writing abilities, your imagination is so very appreciated by so many of your fans, and life would be a lot less fun if your were not writing. I hope you keep writing for a long long time.
I do recommend reading the series in order.
Wow! What an ending! Parting is such sweet sorrow! This series has been an amazing adventure and this book was probably one of the best I have ever read. Everything ended as it should have. My only regret is that none of the previous tenants were brought back. I especially wanted to see the Countess from the first book. This series is very much like reading a Regency version of Downton Abbey with the concurrent plots of abovestairs and belowstairs casts. The way the servants' lives turn out at the end was very wonderful. Joseph's was a trifle bittersweet but he got the ending that made him happy. Lizzie gets the best of them and I am pleased for her. She was my second favorite. Rainbird's ending was anticlimactic in my opinion. I imagined something ridiculously romantic for him and while one may say that his ending was ridiculous and romantic, it wasn't quite the type of romance I was looking for. I feel kind of let down in that respect because he is by far the best character and I felt he deserves the best. Still, one of the most amazing series of books I have read. Very highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.
